The project Baltic eHealth received the Laureate Award at a ceremony in Washington, June 2nd 2008. The award was given by the Computerworld Honors Program.
Every year the Computerworld Honors Program brings together the principals of the world's foremost information technology companies to recognize and document the achievements of the men, women, organizations and institutions around the world, whose visionary applications of information technology promote positive social, economic and educational change.
Baltic eHealth received the Laureate award for the Baltic Health Network due to its success with communication across borders. On an international level the project is about the use of available specialist capacity within radiology – an initiative that was awarded on June 2nd in Washington.
Within the project cooperation between hospitals was established, i.e. between doctors in Denmark and Lithuania and Latvia. The working relationship functioned flawlessly and even though the project now is at an end, the cooperation between the hospitals is planned to continue.
