The technique behind Baltic eHealth

Creating the Baltic Sea Healthcare Network

A mayor IT project, Baltic eHealth, will within the next three years connect the national healthcare data networks in Denmark, Sweden and Norway and two regional networks in Estonia and Lithuania (see image below). In this way citizens of the region – and even in other rural areas - will be able to benefit from the expertise of doctors from the other regions through the use of eHealth.

After the establishment of the Baltic Health Network (BHN), which is the first of its kind in the world, the five participating hospitals will test the infrastructure in two pilot projects within eHealth, eUltrasound and eRadiology.

The objective of Baltic eHealth is to counteract rural migration in the Baltic Sea Region, and the project is part-financed by the European Union
